Discover who God is calling your church to be — together

Prayerful, guided process facilitation that helps churches clarify values, mission, and vision

Not sure how to describe who your church is?

Your church has a story, a people, and a calling. But when someone asks, "What makes your church your church?" the answers can sound like a group project where nobody read the instructions.

You might be asking:

  • Who are we in this season?

  • Where is God leading us next?

  • How do we hear from everyone — not just the people who always speak up at the congregational meeting?

  • How do we share our identity clearly with new members, partners, or future leaders?

Maybe your church is in a season of change. A pastor is leaving, a new one is coming, you've grown (or shrunk), or the neighborhood has changed around you. Or maybe your mission statement was written ages ago and hasn't been refreshed since.

If so, you may need a guided process and a clear path forward!

Hi, I’m Angela, and I’ve sat in your seat

I've served in churches of every size — from communities of 30 to congregations of 24,000. I've also led in nonprofits and at the denominational level. So I know the joy of a church that knows who it is, and the frustration of one that doesn't.

Through all of it, one thing has stayed clear: a shared sense of identity and calling is one of the strongest gifts a church can have. It guides your decisions, your ministries, and the leaders you call.

That's why I love helping churches slow down, listen to God and each other, and find words for who they are.

The Approach

The Pathmaker Journey: Discerning God's direction together

Inspired by the biblical model of decision-making found in Acts 15:28 — "It seemed best to the Spirit and to us" — Angela guides a collaborative process that moves beyond prescribed solutions and cookie-cutter strategies. Instead, she helps your church uncover God's direction through intentional conversations, reflective exercises, and Spirit-led discernment.

Facilitating values, mission, and vision for churches

Clarifying who you are as a church doesn't have to take months of committee meetings.

Angela is a skilled process facilitator dedicated to helping churches discern God’s unique calling. With a deep belief that direction is best discerned in community, she creates an interactive environment where leaders and congregations can listen to each other — and to the Holy Spirit.

What the Pathmaker Journey Includes

Three elements that work together to bring your church to shared clarity

Two Ways to Gather

A process tailored for your church

Every church is different, so the process is customized around who needs to be in the room.

Angela works with your leaders to design a gathering that fits your church's size, culture, and goals.

Leadership gathering

Your pastors, staff, board, or ministry leaders discern direction together in a focused, interactive session. Guided conversations help your team pray, listen, and agree on the direction to share with your church.

Congregational gathering

Your whole church joins the conversation. Guided table discussions give everyone space to share, listen, and pray together. Your leaders then use what was shared to set the final direction.

Make a clear path forward

The Pathmaker Journey guides your church through the four steps of the Pathmaker Process. Whether you gather your leaders or your whole congregation, prayer and Scripture are woven through every step.

The Pathmaker Journey typically takes about 3–4 months, with the main gathering lasting 1–2 days.

  • Apply in practice — Turn what you discerned into clear language and next steps your church can share and live out.

  • Amplify your impact — Let your shared identity guide decisions, ministries, and future leaders so your church moves forward with clarity and unity.

  • Assess the terrain — Reflect together on your church’s story, identity, and current reality, and where God has been at work.

  • Align your design — Discern the values, mission, and vision that describe who your church is and where God is leading.

Communal Discernment

Discernment isn't a step added at the end. Throughout the process, your church listens to God and to each other through prayer, Scripture, and shared input.

  • Listening prayer and times of silence

  • Scripture reflection that frames each conversation

  • Guided table discussions across generations, backgrounds, and ministries

  • Written reflection, so quieter voices can contribute

  • Input from people who can't attend

Seasons for Clarity

Churches often seek clarity when they're:

  • Preparing for a pastoral transition or pastor search

  • Welcoming a new lead pastor

  • Facing changes in the congregation or community

  • Planning for growth, a new ministry, or a building project

  • Coming through conflict or a hard season

  • Updating mission and vision statements that no longer fit

In seasons like these, knowing who you are gives your church a steady foundation. It helps you make decisions, welcome new people, and choose leaders with confidence.

Your church will move from:

  • Struggling to describe what makes your church unique

  • Feeling unsure where God is leading

  • Hearing from the same few voices

  • Groups pulling in different directions

  • Mission statements that sit unused

  • Facing change without a clear identity

From Uncertainty to shared clarity

To:

  • Clear values, mission, and vision your church helped create

  • Shared confidence in your direction

  • A congregation that feels heard

  • A united church moving the same way

  • Values and vision that guide everyday decisions

  • Language to share with members, guests, and future leaders
