Facility Tour: Marin Covenant Church

As a church leader, graphic designer and interior designer, I looooooove visiting other churches. I like to see how other churches do things and look at the design. I love how there is great variety in the kingdom of God and in His churches as well. I've been to big churches with big budgets, and to small churches with small budgets but big creativity.I used to put facility tour pictures on another website (Visual Church Leader), but because I am consolidating everything, I am now putting these posts under this site. I will also be transitioning the existing posts over so that everything can be in one place. Here's a visual tour of my visit to a church in Marin, California.In April, I visited Marin Covenant Church. They have a beautiful facility and a modern feel to their building.The lobby is very tall and grand.The info center is simple but accessible.On one side there are "movie" frames with children's ministry posters (this area leads to the children's rooms). I am not sure what the little things below are… check-in stations? I didn't take a close look.The worship center is beautifully done. The stage is very short and there is a tall wall above it. Not sure as to the structural reasons why the wall is there, but they did a good job in muting that wall by painting it dark and putting a key phrase there. This makes the stage the focal point.I also like the chandeliers, which add interest to the tall ceiling. The ambient lights are fluorescent, which are the bane of every interior designers (because you can only do so many things with a 2x4 rectangle and greenish light!), but they put them in a nice pattern so it does not look like a corporate meeting room.The stage has a reclaimed wood wall on each side, adding some texture and visual interest in the stage. The back of the stage has Christmas lights. These features create an attractive area.They have a large fellowship hall. The stage is simple, but the paint and banners break up the large walls and create a very nice meeting area.There was a really cool office right off the worship center (worship office?).I guess it's a dead giveaway when you look at the wall decor.The children's ministry area was not open that day but I snapped a couple of pictures. They use 252 Basics, and their decor is themed like the program.Here is are examples of the rooms. They were locked so I had to take pictures through the window. I love the wood flooring too!
